When You Let Someone Else Shoot Your Nikon

No rule of thirds, no composition, no zoom or correct aperture.  I guess that’s what happens when your camera has no automatic setting, lol.  My mom didn’t do too bad of a job with this shot.  If I were to have created this shot from the other side of the lens, I would have definitely zoomed in, moved the center of focus to the left, and capture more of the stream to the right with leading lines.  Still, it’s sweet, because my mom shot it.  At least we are lit from behind rather than squinting into the sun (as I did in 99% of all of my childhood photos which she took).  I love back lighting.  It looks especially good on blondes (as long as you’re careful not to blow out the highlights in their hair).

You’ll have to watch for my niece in an upcoming episode of Parks & Recreation (I’ve never seen the show, but I’ll have to start watching it now!  Here are a couple of shots of her with celebrities on the set.  Maliabeth is the beauty on the far left.

Here is my niece again with Christie Brinkley (Maliabeth is the one second in from the right).

That’s as close as I’ll ever get to Hollywood fame.  Living it through my niece… but I’m so happy for her.  She’s an amazing woman, and I’m so proud of her accomplishments.  Even more so, her pure heart.  I love her dearly.

I have some busy things coming up this week, so I’ll be leaving you with solitary images pre-loaded and released each morning.

  1. That’s awesome for your niece!
I love the family shot above! Don’t you think it’s nice to know you DO know what you’re doing when you see shots like those? (no offense to your Mom ;) ) I love when they take your camera and hold it out, wondering why the screen doesn’t work! ;)
